What's Your Favorite Puzzle?

Here are a few of mine . . .

Kriss Kross

Kriss Kross was my favorite when I was kid, and it still is! It's like a classic crossword, but with a simple list of words, instead of those pesky clues. I love these.

Have you ever gotten bogged down by the word clues in classic crosswords? Then, Kriss Kross is the perfect puzzle for you!

Each Kriss Kross puzzle includes a list of words that fit into the grid. The word list is organized by length, so you can easily find each word by the number of letters it contains.

Here's How You Play:

  1. Start with the easiest words. Look for a word or two that can fit in only one place in the grid. Most of my Kriss Kross puzzles have a starting word already entered to get you going!
  2. Use the intersections. Once you've placed a word, use the intersecting letters to help you find words that fit across and down.
  3. Try different possibilities. If more than one word seems to fit, test each option. The correct word must fit the available spaces and match the letters of any intersecting words.
  4. Cross words off the list as you enter them in the grid. (Optional)
  5. Have fun!

Puzzle Difficulty
I don't really know how to judge difficulty of Kriss Kross puzzles. I try to keep my puzzles fairly easy to solve.

I like Ramona Mona puzzle solving to be fun and relaxing, with a gentle brain workout. Since I create Kriss Kross puzzles manually, I think they are all about the same level of difficulty. I think I've only had one or two puzzles that had multiple solutions because there were so many 5- and 6-letter words, that seemed to be interchangeable.

Sudoku

A Numbers Game. But not the illegal kind. These numbers are strictly above board!

Here's How You Play:

The objective of Sudoku is to fill the 9 × 9 grid with the numbers 1–9.

  • Each row must contain the numbers 1–9, with no repeats.
  • Each column must contain the numbers 1–9, with no repeats.
  • Each 3 × 3 box must contain the numbers 1–9, with no repeats.

Some numbers are usually filled in to get you started. The more numbers are pre-filled, the easier it is to solve. The really hard ones have fewer numbers filled in.

In the example below, question marks show where numbers are missing. Check the other numbers in the same row, column, and 3 × 3 box to determine which number belongs in each empty cell.

There are many ways to solve Sudoku puzzles, from simple methods (like looking for visual patterns), to more advanced techniques.

Puzzle Difficulty
I try to keep my puzzles fairly easy to solve. I like Ramona Mona puzzle solving to be fun and relaxing, with a gentle brain workout. So even in books where I have 4 levels of difficulty, they should all be in the larger "easy" category overall. If you're the type who loves to solve those super-challenging brain busters, you may not find my Sudoku puzzles to be enough of a challenge for you.

Word Search

What's not to love about Word Search? The words are all there. You just have to find them!

Here's How You Play:

  1. Read through the word list.
  2. Find each word in the puzzle grid.
  3. Mark each word you find with an underline, circle, or other mark.
  4. Cross out each word on the word list. (Optional)

Puzzle Difficulty

★ - 1 Star - Easy
Words run only left to right and top to bottom.

★★ - 2 Star - Difficult
Words can run in all directions: horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, forwards or backwards, up or down.

Tips

  1. If you're having trouble finding a word, look for its least common letter instead of searching for the first letter.
  2. For example, look for the V in RIVER.
  3. Scan the grid for double letters and unusual letter combinations, such as SS, QU, or ING.
  4. Remember to look for words in all directions, according to the difficulty level.
  5. Have fun!

About My Puzzles

I make puzzle books for adults and seniors. I specialize in large-print, easy-to-solve puzzles designed to provide a relaxing experience while giving your mind a little workout.

Everything is 100% clean content—no bad language or explicit terminology. All of my puzzle content is suitable for children, although some of the vocabulary and puzzle difficulty may be a little advanced for younger solvers.

I produce word search and sudoku puzzles with a computer puzzle generator. And I create every Kriss Kross puzzle by myself, without computer assistance (except for the formatting).

I hope you can find some of your favorites in my library.
